The cyanotype process was invented in 1842 by John Herschel. The chemical reaction produces cyan-blue pigment. The chemical reaction uses both time and light to create a photographic image that can never be replicated making each sun print unique. Because of the long exposure time the artist has ample opportunity to dance and paint alongside the sun.
